About Riptide

Riptide Aquatics (RTA), affiliated with USA Swimming, is a year-round swim club. RipTide provides an environment in which swimmers of all levels are encouraged to reach their fullest potential. Learning to set goals and achieving those goals is a valuable skill that will carry over into schoolwork, and later in their career. RTA promotes: Goal Setting & Achievement; Good Sportsmanship & Teamwork; Good Health & Nutrition.

Riptide strives to take all swimmers to a higher level whether that be a beginning swimmer, high school athlete, national or international level. RipTide participates in Rec meets during the summer and USA Swimming events all year. Various meets are attended to meet the skill levels required, generally there will be one or two meets a month that the swimmer may attend. In keeping with our belief that we need fun, meets are scheduled at Bishop, the coast, as well as in the central valley.

Riptide’s program
Technique is the backbone of the program, but there is also a fun factor built in. Games have been designed to develop good swimming techniques which will lead to faster times. Starts, stroke technique, turns, and the finish are taught for the competitive events.

Development of the swimmer continues with advanced training concepts including: longer conditioning sessions, endurance training, sprint training, nutrition, race strategy and mental preparation. Riptide coaches believe swimming is only a component in the development of a young person. Positive support from parents, who understand that swimming is not the reason for their child’s existence, is crucial to their child’s development. Swimming teaches discipline, hard work, goal setting, trial and error, success and failure. Team members are encouraged to be involved in other activities, such as church, music, community service as well as to achieve scholastic success.
